The Chesapeake Bay Environmental Center (CBEC) is a 510 acre wildlife preserve that offers educational and recreation programs such as kayaking, hiking, and birding. They have an EzDOCK launcher with a mix of single, tandem kayaks and paddleboards.

Welcome to your new backyard! CBEC is a CKC business partner across from Kent Island. No CKC kayaks are onsite. Instead, CBEC allows you can bring a friend along, when reserving a kayak or paddleboard! 

CBEC offers kayak rentals from May to November, which can be reserved online, but do require visitor office check-ins and waivers between 9-3pm daily, and you must return by 5pm. Please plan accordingly.

CBEC offers rental single and tandem kayaks as well as paddleboards. As CKC members are CBEC members, you can rent up to 2 vessels at a time with no charge for the day. Equipment is first come, first served.  

CKC members can choose to sign up for a scheduled CBEC guided kayak tour, including a full moon paddle, for only $15 per person. 

There are water trails in Prospect Bay of a tidal marsh along with 4 miles of hiking trails and spectacular birding. For birding insights, check out the Birders Guide.

Free parking for all patrons. The entrance road can flood during high tides.
