Canton Kayak Club – New Member Orientation Training (Required)
All new members must complete an orientation training session before being granted access to CKC kayaks and equipment.
This session is led by an American Canoe Association-certified instructor and is designed to ensure all members understand safety expectations, equipment use, and club procedures—so you can feel confident and prepared on the water.
Whether you are new to kayaking or experienced, this training provides valuable guidance and is an important part of the CKC experience.
✅ Before You Register
You must complete the following:
- Create your membership through the website
- Submit payment
- Agree to the waiver during registration
📝 How to Register for Training
- Visit the Calendar page:

- Click “Log in Here” within the event if prompted
- RSVP to reserve your spot
👉 Note: You must be logged in to RSVP. If you are not logged in, the system will not allow registration.
📅 Scheduling & Attendance
- Sessions are limited to 12 participants
- Advance RSVP is required (no walk-ups permitted)
- Sessions are rain or shine
- Please cancel at least 24 hours in advance if you cannot attend
👕 What to Wear / Bring
- Comfortable, weather-appropriate clothing (you may get wet)
- Layers and a light rain jacket recommended
- Closed-toe shoes
- Water bottle

Once you complete training:
- You’ll receive access to our Slack community
- When the season opens (anticipated May 1), you’ll receive your kayak access code
