CKC Kayaking with Mindfulness led by Phillip McKnight
June 22 @ 10:00 - 11:30
Free
Join mindfulness teacher Phillip McKnight in the practice of mindfulness while kayaking. This 90 minute session will explore techniques to be in the present moment with common outcomes such as stress reduction, calm, and wellbeing. This experiential course is an introduction to mindfulness. Through it, CKC members will learn the principles of mindfulness, begin to develop their practice, and apply these skills to their daily life. Learning outcomes improve your ability to focus and concentrate, navigate change and time management, and develop a more conscious relationship with technology.
For the 2025 season, this is a new joint series offering with Phillip McKnight, a certified mindfulness mediation teacher and life coach at the Chesapeake Mental Health Collaborative (CMHC). As a dedicated thru-hiker, Phillip has not only navigated the path less traveled but has also deeply immersed himself in the tranquility of nature’s embrace. Phillip’s role in co-leading the Nature Informed Therapy Training is integral, as he brings a unique blend of expertise and empathetic teaching.
He completed a two-year training program for teaching awareness and compassion-based practices accredited by the International Mindfulness Teachers Association. Phillip has experience teaching a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, and abilities and uses his MA in Instructional Systems Design to determine the needs of the participant and help them develop skills in mindfulness meditation with tools for body, heart, mind, and community.
